During November and December, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shop locally. Read below for a comprehensive list of holiday fairs and markets found in the Mid-Vancouver Island area.

November 1 – 3

Nanaimo Professional Craft Fair

Location: Beban Park Social Centre – 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo

Nanaimo’s earliest Christmas craft fair. This unique shopping experience is provided by fantastic and creative BC Artisans. With over 70 booths you’ll be sure to find one of a kind gifts for your loved ones.  You will also have a chance to win hourly door prizes. Plus, every entry is entered to win the Grand Prize valued at over $600.00.

Admission: $5.00 includes unlimited re-entry (with stamp) plus a $1.00 “token” to a daily charity of your choice.

Raven Artisan Market

Location: Cumberland Cultural Centre – 2674 Dunsmuir Ave, Cumberland

Christmas in the Valley Craft Fair

Location: Alberni Athletic Hall ( 3727 Roger Street)

This is a huge craft fair with free admission and wheelchair accessibility. Crafts include needle art, Christmas Creations, First Nations weaving and carving, woodturning, sea glass creations, candles, birdhouses, tatting, polymer sculpture, wildlife paintings, jewellery, hand-knit sweaters, glassware and much more.  There will be a free draw each day for a basket filled with handcrafted treasures. 

Knox “Perfect Gift” Christmas Craft Fair

Location: Knox United Church – 345 Pym Street

When: Saturday, November 9 from 9:30 – 3:30

This Fair has become a highly anticipated event in Oceanside for many and is a sign that the Christmas festivities are underway. There will be 80 tables filling 8 rooms of talented vendors providing a multitude of exciting family-orientated products, home-made food items and many unique craft selections for all ages. The enthusiastic vendors come from communities all over Vancouver Island in order to offer a huge variety of “Perfect Gift” possibilities!

Fall into Winter Craft Fair

Location: Forest Park School (2050 Latimer Road)

When: Saturday, November 9 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

40+ crafters and vendors from all over Vancouver Island. There will also be a few door prizes, grade 7 bake sale and a concession. All Proceeds will go to the PAC as well as the grade 7 year-end activities. Admission is free or by a non-perishable food donation which will be donated to Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.

Ts’i’ts’uwatul Lelum Christmas Craft Fair

Location: 5755 Allenby Road, Duncan

When: Saturday, November 9th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Ts’i’ts’uwatul Lelum Assisted Living annual Christmas Craft Fair is Saturday, Nov 9th! Expect local crafters and yummy treats baked in house by the talented kitchen staff.  There will also be raffle draws throughout the day. Sit a minute and enjoy a hamburger or hotdog from the concession, or have a visit with Father Christmas.

Clements Centre Fall Bazaar

Holiday Collective

It began 10 years ago as All Decked Out, and for the last two seasons is now Holiday Collective. It has become a very popular Christmas tradition in the mid-Vancouver Island area.

Friday night is a fun 19+ event featuring some shopping, a cash bar, and swag bags for the first 100 persons through the door. A perfect night out with the girls or even date night!

On Saturday, the craft market is open to everyone. Go and enjoy a full day of unique shopping experiences and visit the fabulous artists, designers, makers, and sewists who will feed your eyes with colour, texture, and genius!

Christmas Geek Market

Qualicum’s Winterfest Craft Fair is a Celtic themed event, full of live entertainment, a local artist showcase, Haggis Hunt for children and much more

This fair offers artisans who produce a wide range of high-quality products, from clothing and jewelry to art, clay and metal works, home decor, toys, children’s fashion, gourmet delicacies, and gifts. The organizers have added a dining area in front of the stage, so you can re-fuel to local musical entertainment without leaving the venue.

A portion of your entrance fee will go to one of three local community groups.

Make a day of it and share in the festive atmosphere with local musicians at the WinterFaire stage. Stop by the canteen for a tasty homemade lunch, and the Masonic Hall’s drink bar to warm up with a hot apple cider. Children can create and take home a craft from the craft zone in the CRI Hall.

Cost: A donation at any door gets you access to all three locations and the chance to win a basket of fabulous handmade products from WinterFaire vendors and items from the museum’s Company Store. As a fundraiser for the museum, this event provides a unique opportunity to buy local while supporting a local charitable organization!

Before attending the Festival of Lights parade, head into Aggie Hall for their 12th annual Christmas Craft fair. The streets around Aggie Hall will be closed to traffic from 2:30 pm until well after the fireworks, so it’s the perfect time to shop till you drop!

Old Fashioned Xmas Craft Sale

Location: BC Pensioners Hall – 2465 Labieux Rd. Nanaimo

3rd Annual Christmas Craft Fair

Location: Arrowsmith Golf Course (2250 Fowler Road, Qualicum Beach)

When: Saturday, November 30 & Sunday, December 1 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

This 2-day event features local vendors and crafters selling unique gifts, arts and crafts, woodworking, handmade items, baking and canning.  Daily from 1-3, kids can make a take-home craft, and have a visit with Santa and get their picture taken.  There will be free prize draws every half hour.  The restaurant and bar will be opening, serving up all kinds of specials.  Get started on your Christmas gift shopping with a great variety to choose from.

Cost: Entry of canned goods or a cash donation with proceeds going to the local food bank.

December 7 – 8

Coombs Christmas Craft Fair

Location: Arrowsmith Recreation Hall – Ford Road, Coombs Fairgrounds

When: December 7& 8 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

All you want for Christmas will be on offer at the Coombs Christmas Fair. Visit their sale for a great selection of beautiful gifts and food items to share with friends and family.

They are expanding this year, using both halls on the property, with a few rotating vendor tables. Be sure to drop by each day so you don’t miss a thing. Admission is free and there’s lots of parking. The concession will offer soup, sandwiches and treats with an indoor rest area.

Providence Farm Christmas Craft Fair

Location: Providence Farm – 1843 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan

  1. Errington Christmas Craft Faires 1st and 2nd Saturdays in December for over 40 years now larger with 65 vendors over 2 weekends (32/Saturday) in our 100 year old community hall.

    The Annual Jonanco Christmas Craft Sale is being held at on Nov 30 and Dec 1 from 10 to 4 each day at the Jonanco Hobby Workshop. It’s at 2745 White Rapids Road at corner of Nanaimo River Road. Take Wildplay turnoff on highway (just North of Nanaimo River Bridge) and it’s 4 km on Nanaimo River Road. Alternatively take Extension Road at COOP gas station near South Parkway shopping area. Extension eventually turns off and main road becomes White Rapids. There will be signs.

    Maybe too late, but this weekend is the ‘new’ Christmas Market in Courtenay at the Native Sons Hall (I believe) which replaces the long running one as that manage retied. Today, the 8th, also 9th and 10th.
