When rounding up all the spooktacular Halloween activities here on Vancouver Island, I'm constantly amazed by the incredible diversity of options available. We Islanders sure know how to embrace this pumpkin-infused extravaganza! Whether searching for a ghoulishly good time or a family-friendly event, rest assured that you'll discover something in your neck of the woods!

South Vancouver Island Halloween Activities and Events
The Greater Victoria area has the most variety of activities to choose from. If you are looking for spooky ways to get into the Halloween spirit, the South Island is the place to be!
Galey Farms Pumpkinfest
Location: Saanich (4150 Blenkinsop Road, Victoria)
Join Galey Farms for their Pumpkinfest and kid-friendly ghost town. It is a great place to bring your family for Halloween fun and adventure.
- Enjoy a hayride out to the pumpkin patch
- Lose yourself in the 6-acre corn maze.
- Explore the animated ghost town and haunted mansion
- Take a ride on the farm train
- Grab a snack at the Market
Enjoy the ‘ Festival of Fear ‘ for the older crowd (PG 13). This evening event adds extra spookiness to the Corn Maze and Farm Train. The pumpkin patch closes during the evening.
And for the really brave souls out there, purchase your tickets to Carnevil.
Carnevil terrifies visitors as they wander through a 5,000-square-foot Haunted House! This is a PG-13 event with three chicken exits for those who need it.

Ghostly Walking Tours
Location: Entrance to Market Square (560 Johnson Street, Victoria)
Hear ghostly stories as you go on a guided walking tour through the streets and alleys of Victoria. Although this tour is available year-round, a special Halloween route happens in October.
The Ghostly Walks are family-friendly and operate rain or shine.

Ghostly Pedicab Tour
Location: Government Street, outside the Visitor Center
Discover hidden alleys and local curios in Victoria's Old Town and Chinatown districts on a 75-minute pedicab tour.
As you're guided through the city in a comfortable pedicab, you'll listen to hair-raising ghost stories from centuries past and gain insight into the city's colourful history.

Halloween Market
Location: Da Vinci Centre – 195 Bay Street, Victoria
Dates: October 26 – 27, 2024
The Halloween Market is now a much-anticipated annual event. Admission is $5.00, and kids 12 and under are free. You can repurchase your tickets online via the Halloween Market website.
Many vendors, including food trucks, will be selling handmade items ranging from spooky to sweet. Throughout the day, a DJ will be spinning a selection of favourite tracks mixed with spooky tunes.
Costumes are encouraged!
Craigdarroch Castle: The After Hours Tour
Location: Craigdarroch Castle (1050 Joan Crescent, Victoria)
Join this unforgettable journey into the shadows of history and discover the darker side of the 19th century.
Curiosities of Craigdarroch offers visitors a unique opportunity to delve into the darker stories surrounding the Dunsmuir family and their experiences during the Victorian era. This ninety-minute tour, led by an expert guide, takes small groups through the historic Craigdarroch Castle after its regular closing time.
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Monster Mash
Location: Burnside Gorge Community Centre – 471 Cecelia Road, Victoria.
One-day Event: Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm
For great family-friendly fun, head to the Monster Mash. This Halloween celebration is filled with smiles, treats, and not-so-scary thrills. Guests are encouraged to dress up in costume.
Cost: $5/family or $2/person, and the price includes hot dog, chips and drink.

Wicked Victoria
Location: Government Street, Victoria
Date: October 27 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm
Celebrating the 10th Annual Wicked Victoria! From Yates Street to Broughton, Government Street will be crawling with spooky crafts, creepy and creative costume contests (including one for our ever-loving Fur Babies!), tantalizing live tunes, and kooky local vendors.
This fun, family-friendly event brings together the community and celebrates the season of harvest and Hallow's Eve. It's also completely free to attend!
Halloween Skate
Location: North Saanich, Panorama Recreation – 1885 Forest Park Drive
Date: Oct 26, 2024, 12 pm-1:20 pm
Celebrate the spooky season by wearing your costume on the ice. Goblins, ghouls, and witches are all welcome at this Halloween-themed leisure skate intended for all ages. Regular admission rates apply. Skates are available for rent. Helmets are available free of charge. Skating aids are available upon request.
Halloween Spooktacular Train
Location: BC Forest Discovery Centre – 2892 Drinkwater Rd, North Cowichan
When: Friday, Oct. 18th to Thursday, Oct. 22nd, and back Friday, Oct. 25th and running through to Wednesday, Oct. 30th
Halloween magic is happening with an exciting event for families with eleven nights of Halloween fun!
Doors open at 3:30 pm, and the trains run every half hour from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Centre closing shortly after. If you're on a later train, you'll want to arrive an hour earlier to partake in all the events around the Centre.
Activities each evening include crafts in the schoolhouse, train rides, trick-or-treat stations for the little ones, and live entertainment. Plus, this year, there will be a few new surprises! As always, lots of hot chocolate, coffee, and hot food will be available to purchase so you can sit back, watch the fun, and enjoy the warmth of the fire pits.
Feel free to dress up in your best costume!
This event happens rain or shine.
Tickets are non-refundable and ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE.
Halloween Haunted House
Location: Country Maples RV Resort – 9012 Trans Canada Hwy, North Cowichan
Dates: October 25 & 26, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
All are welcome to attend this Halloween Haunted House at Country Maples RV Resort. Dress up in costume for a chance to win a prize! All attendees (in costume or not) have a chance to win one of two Mini-Golf Passes for four. The draw will take place at closing on Saturday night.
All kids get a surprise goodie bag.
Cost to enter the haunted house:
General Public $8 per person/kids $5/ Family of 4 $25
Campers $5/kids$3/ Family of 4 $15

Mid Vancouver Island Halloween Activities and Events
Nanaimo Halloween Events
Huard's Haunted House
Location: 1702 Timberlands Rd, Ladysmith (Cassidy)
Dates: October 16-20, 23-26, and 28-31, from 6:00 – 10:00 pm.
Enter this backwoods home to meet Mama's family, but be careful they can smell your fear!
This event is for adults only!
They take great pride in making adults scream and soil themselves. It is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Lantern Tours
Location: Nanaimo Museum
Dates: Wednesdays to Saturdays: October 4-26, starting times of 5 pm & 6:30 pm.
The Haunted Nanaimo Lantern Tour includes tales of unexplained phenomena, mysterious apparitions, and spooktacular stories.
If you aren't into the supernatural, join the Crime & Punishment Lantern Tour instead. On this tour, you hear stories about some of Nanaimo’s most notorious outlaws and daring heists.
These are mostly outdoor walking tours of downtown to hear about the darker side of Nanaimo’s history while visiting local landmarks.
Cost: $15 per person
Age: 12 years+ recommended (mature content)
Duration: 90 minutes – rain or shine

Haunted Halloween Yard Walk
Location: 55 Mill Street, Nanaimo
Date: Oct 25 – 31, from 6:30 – 10:00 pm
Brought to you by the Van Isle Clean Team, this fun, FREE haunted Halloween walk is for the brave souls who enter. This year, they are adding even more scare.
If, for some reason, you don't want the full effect, let the people at the gate know, and they will take it easier on you (less scary).
However, this is the right place for you if you want a good scare!
Hauntvilles Horror: The Blood Shack
Location: VIEx Show Office Barn – 2300 Bowen Rd, Nanaimo (Beban Park)
Dates: October 25, 26 & 31st, from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm
Hauntvilles Horror has again partnered with the Vancouver Island Exhibition for the 2024 Halloween Season. And this year's event is sure to be fun! One Cool Cookie will be at all three haunt nights this year, which means you can get yourself a hot drink or baked goods while waiting to enter The Bloodshack.
Everyone is welcome to this haunt; however, the event consists of loud noises, flashing lights, and dark and confined spaces.
The cost of entry is by cash donation, with all proceeds going towards the VIEx to help rebuild their barns.
Halloween Market
Date: October 26, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Location: Nanaimo North Town Centre
Get into the spooky spirit and dress for a festive shopping day with incredible local businesses. An exciting lineup of vendors offering unique products will be perfect for finding seasonal treats and treasures. Don't miss out on this fun-filled event from the Mom Market.

Vancouver Island Halloween Activities: Parksville & Qualicum Area
Nanoose Bay Halloween Walk
Location: 2525 Northwest Bay Road
When: October 25 – 27, noon to 3:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
The much anticipated Halloween Walk in Nanoose is back again! Parking is at Stone Tree Farm (1945 Stewart Road), a 4-minute walk up Stewart Rd. to the NEW side entrance gate of the Halloween Walk. There is no parking available anywhere else.
You are welcome to wear a costume, but no masks are allowed.
Tickets are available to purchase in two ways:
- Advance Printed Ticket SALE Oct 15th – Oct 22nd. CASH ONLY ($10 each or a family pack of (5) $45) at the following locations: Nanoose Bay Elementary School, Rusted Rake, Springford Farm Market, Pharmasave (Parksville).
- ONLINE Advance Ticket SALE Oct 15th – Oct 22nd ($10 each or a family pack of (5) $45 + processing fee).
- After October 22nd, online tickets are $15 each, while quantities last. They will be for sale until noon on October 24th.
Your ticket is good for ONE TIME around the walk, which takes 20-30 minutes to complete.
There are no refunds for tickets once they are purchased.
This is a fundraiser for The Ballenas Whalers Football Society & NBES School.
Please note that earlier times, between noon and 3:00 pm, are reserved for anyone who wants to enjoy the walk during daylight.
Pumpkin Walk
Location: Arbutus Meadows – 1515 Island Hwy E, Nanoose Bay
Dates: Every Friday, 4-8 pm, from Sept. 20-Oct. 25
Head to the farm for an evening of local talents, festive activities, and community fun. Every Friday evening until the end of October. At this event, enjoy:
- Vendor Markt (free entry to the market),
- Pumpkin Light Walk (entry by donation with a suggested price of $5.00 per person or $15/family)

Pumpkin Patch Festival
Location: Paradise Acres Ranch – 1085 Paradise Place, Nanoose Bay
Dates: October 11, 12 & 13, from noon to 6:00 pm
Explore the Massive ‘Pumpkin Patch’ and all of the Heirloom Pumpkins! While there, enjoy a free sample of Chef Gerd Voigt’s curried pumpkin soup, plus pet some ponies.
There will be live music, food trucks, Pumpkin Painting and Carving booths, Pony Rides, a Pony petting area, Family trail rides, and fun for everyone.
Trick or Treat (Early) at Parksville Museum
Location: Parksville Museum – 1245 E Island HighwayParksville
Date: October 26, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Trick-or-treaters can go door to door in the Museum’s decorated and lit-up village. Make sure to dress up in your costume for goodies, activities, live music, and, most importantly, candy. This is a family-friendly event with free admission and open to the public.
Parking is available in the museum/Visitor Centre parking lot, along NW Bay Road, and in the gravel lot next to Serious Coffee.
Scarecrow Spectacular
Location: Milner Gardens – 340 Whitmee Rd, Qualicum Beach
Dates: October 25 – 27, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, with viewing until 3:30 pm.
Cost: $10.00/Adult | $6.00/Youth | Children, current VIU Students, and Milner Members are free.
Milner Garden’s Scarecrow Spectacular brings more fall fun to the community. This event provides another occasion for families to come together and make memories.
Visitors are encouraged to dress up in costume, wander the Scarecrow Lane through the Haunted Gardens and vote on their favourite spooktacular scarecrow!
Accompanied by a menu of harvest-themed food and beverage offerings and other festive activities, it’s sure to be a Graveyard Smash.
Pumpkins on the Drive
Location: Resort Drive, Parksville
Dates: October 28 – November 1
Walk or drive along Resort Drive in Parksville for a spooktacular family fun night!
Jack-o-Lanterns will be lit in front of Tigh-Na-Mara Resort for five nights starting October 28.
Halloween Mini Putt
Location: Riptide Lagoon Adventure Golf – 1000 Resort Drive, Parksville
Dates: October 26 – 31, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm
Riptide is transforming its mini golf courses into haunted havens perfect for a night or day of spooky entertainment! The courses will be decked out in eerie decorations that will give you chills as you go through haunted fairways.
Kids under six play for free; everyone else is $12.00 per round.
Heartwood's House of Spooktacles
Location: Errington Hall – 1390 Errington Road
Date: Wednesday, October 30, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm
Heartwood's House of Spooktacles promises a family-friendly event that will delight attendees of all ages! Expect:
- Awe-inspiring science experiments
- Exploding pumpkins
- Fortune telling
- Spooky campfire stories
- Spooktacular crafts and much more!
Dress in your best costume for a chance to win the prestigious title of Spooktacles Best Dressed! Don't forget to visit the enchanted photo booth to showcase your outfit and capture the moment. Snacks and light lunch options will be available by donation at the concession stand.
Please note that this is a cash-only event aimed at fundraising for the Heartwood Home Learners Cooperative.
Cost is $5.00 per child (Adults are free)
Coombs Candy Walk
Location: 1014 Ford Road, Coombs
Date: October 31, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
This year's Coombs Candy Walk is “Night at the Movies.” This indoor/outdoor event is fun for all ages and includes the following:
- Indoor Trick or Treating
- Cake Walk
- Photo Booth
- Concession
- Fireworks (start at 8:00 pm) – still tentative at this point

Comox Valley Halloween Events
Coastal Black Pumpkin Fest
Location: Black Creek (2186 Endall Road)
Dates: September 28 – October 28 – Thursdays to Mondays, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Visit this winery for their annual Pumpkin Fest, perfect for the whole family.
Activities include a Hay Wagon Ride, 2 Corn Mazes, Fall Festive games in the event barn, a Jumping Pillow, a Hay Bale Maze, Live Music and visiting the Barnyard Animals.

Halloween Trunk or Treat
Location: Saratoga Speedway – 2380 Macaulay Road, Black Creek

Halloween Parade & Party
Location: Downtown Courtenay
Date: October 31, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Get on your broomstick and follow the witches and black cats to the annual Courtenay Halloween Parade and Party. Courtenay Recreation puts on this family-friendly event in partnership with the Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association (DCBIA).
Start in Downtown Courtenay with a Trick-or-Treating Parade at downtown businesses on 4th, 5th, and 6th streets, and then make your way to the Lewis Centre for the party.
The party at the Lewis Centre (489 Old Island Highway) will feature Witches Brew Café, which will offer a FREE Cauldron-brewed beverage. There will also be family photos, carnival games, and treats.
